Morris County schools are some of our longest-running customers. From Denville and Boonton to Morristown and the lake districts, we have sanded, recoated and repaired gym floors here for years.
Working in Morris County, NJ
Morris County mixes small borough and township K-8 districts with regional high schools, plus a strong group of Catholic and independent schools. Many of these gyms are recoated every summer, and a good recoat schedule is the main reason a floor can go many years between full sandings.
Lake-area buildings and older gyms with crawl spaces deal with seasonal humidity swings. Boards swell in a humid summer and open small gaps in a dry winter. We check moisture before we sand, and we will tell you if the building needs its humidity or drainage looked at before we put a new finish down.
Private schools here often want the floor to look sharp for admissions events and tournaments. We repaint logos and lines in exact school colors and can add matching wall pads.

Planning a budget? Our gym floor refinishing cost guide explains what drives the price.
How long the gym is out of use: a dustless screen and recoat is the quick option between sandings. A full sand and refinish takes 8 to 10 working days plus about a week for the finish to cure, and our sanders catch about 98% of the dust.
We keep up with MFMA standards and use MFMA-approved finishes and MFMA-certified vendor products. We stand behind our work and our reputation proves it.

Frequently asked questions
How often should a Morris County school recoat its gym floor?
Most of our Morris County schools screen and recoat once a year, usually in the summer. A yearly recoat protects the wood and keeps the floor from needing a full sanding as often.
Why does our floor get gaps in the winter?
Maple shrinks when indoor air gets dry in the heating season and swells when summer humidity comes back. Small seasonal gaps are normal. Big gaps, cupping or buckling usually mean a moisture problem we should look at.
Do you handle repairs as well as refinishing?
Yes. We fix dead spots, replace damaged boards and repair water damage, then blend the area in with the rest of the floor.
Can you work around summer camps that use our gym?
Yes. Tell us your camp and event dates and we will plan the sanding or recoat around them, including the cure time before the floor can be used again.
