Sussex County has many small school districts and a few regional high schools, spread across a lot of rural miles. We drive up from Wayne to take care of gyms all over the county.
Working in Sussex County, NJ
Many small districts here have one gym and a small maintenance staff. We make the job easy: one walkthrough, one proposal, one team, and a clear schedule for when the floor will be back in use.
Northwest New Jersey has cold, dry winters. When the heat runs all winter, maple loses moisture and gaps open between boards. Most of those close again in spring. We will tell you what is normal and what needs a repair.
The regional high schools here, such as High Point and Pope John XXIII, host league games and want a competition-ready floor with crisp lines and logos.
Lakes, long winters and summer programs
A lot of Sussex County life centers on its lakes, like Lake Mohawk in Sparta and Lake Hopatcong, and many school gyms host summer camps and rec programs as soon as classes end. That leaves a short window for floor work, so we lock in dates early and plan the cure time around your programs.
Long winters bring snow, road salt and grit into the building on every pair of boots. That grit scratches the finish quickly near the doors and benches. Good walk-off mats, daily dust mopping and a yearly screen and recoat keep it in check. If the finish is already worn through to gray wood, a full sand and refinish is the right fix.
We work throughout Sussex County, including Newton, Sparta, Vernon, Hopatcong, Franklin, Hardyston, Hamburg, Stanhope, Byram, Andover, Lafayette, Frankford, Branchville, Wantage, Montague and Stillwater.

Planning a budget? Our gym floor refinishing cost guide explains what drives the price.
How long the gym is out of use: a dustless screen and recoat is the quick option between sandings. A full sand and refinish takes 8 to 10 working days plus about a week for the finish to cure, and our sanders catch about 98% of the dust.
We keep up with MFMA standards and use MFMA-approved finishes and MFMA-certified vendor products. We stand behind our work and our reputation proves it.

Frequently asked questions
Do you travel to northern Sussex County?
Yes. We work all over Sussex County, from Stanhope and Sparta up to High Point.
Why does our gym floor open gaps every winter?
Dry winter air shrinks maple. Small seasonal gaps are normal and usually close in spring. Large gaps or loose boards should be checked.
Can a small district afford yearly maintenance?
A yearly screen and recoat costs far less than a full sanding and protects the floor so full sanding is needed less often.
Do you do the line painting too?
Yes. Game lines and logos are part of our refinishing work.
