Before and after
The project
Before the job, the gym floor had a worn, orange-toned finish, a green center circle and old game lines. A full sand takes the floor down past the old finish, paint and lines to fresh wood, so the floor can be refinished from scratch instead of just recoated.
After sanding the floor down to fresh wood, we painted all new game lines and the school crest at center court, then refinished the floor. The school chose a cleaner logo layout, without lettering above and below the center logo.
The same job also covered:
- Repairs in four corners of the gym floor
- New cove base around the floor
- Painting the stage floor black
Doing all of it in one booking meant one schedule and one team for the school.
When a floor needs a full sand
A yearly screen and recoat keeps a healthy finish in good shape, but it can’t fix a finish that has worn through or a floor that has darkened and yellowed over the years. When the color, lines and logos need to change, or the finish is too far gone, a full sand and refinish starts the floor over.
