In 2019 J & J Gym Floors tore out and completely replaced both of The Pingry School’s gym floors with new maple floors, one of them in two tones, and replaced the wall pads. We have looked after Pingry’s gym floors ever since: yearly recoats, new game lines, repairs and wall padding on more than one campus.

The project
In the summer of 2019 Pingry contracted J & J Gym Floors to replace its gym floors and wall pads. We ripped out both existing gym floors completely and installed two new maple floors. One of the new floors was done in two tones, and the contrast between the two shades matches the two colors in the school’s logo.
Taking care of the floors since
- Recoated the Hyde and Bristol gym floors in December 2019 and again in summer 2020, with an extra second coat.
- Painted new game lines and recoated as part of a 2022 project.
- Supplied and installed wall pads for the Pottersville campus in 2022.
- Installed volleyball equipment and painted lines on the gym floors in 2023, and painted lines for an outdoor court in Basking Ridge.
- Resurfaced the Hauser gym floor in December 2023.
- Recoated the Short Hills campus gym floor in 2022 and 2024, then repaired and resurfaced it in 2025.
- Supplied and installed padding with a printed logo in 2024.
- Screened and recoated two gym floors in November 2025.

Why it matters
A new floor is only the start. A yearly screen and recoat protects the finish and the wood, so a school like Pingry can go a long time between full sandings and keep every gym ready for games, classes and events.
Related services: new gym floor installation, screening and recoating, gym wall padding, game lines and logos.
